Medtronic in Denmark

Regional Office and Research Collaborations

High quality in clinical trials & tests make Denmark ideal for the development of innovative products.

Medtronic has been established on the Danish market for more than 45 years. Employing 130 persons in Denmark, both product specialists and administration personnel, the office serves as the regional office for the Nordic countries, the Baltics and Poland. Medtronic is a global leader in medical technology, services and solutions, using its clinical, therapeutic, and economic expertise to address the complex challenges faced by healthcare systems today.

Other than serving as regional office, Medtronic also engages in various research collaborations in Denmark. Medtronic has appointed Copenhagen University Hospital Center of Research & Innovation as one of 12 centers in Europe. The focus of the Center of Research & Innovation is clinical trials and tests. Copenhagen University Hospital is Denmark´s leading hospital for patients needing highly specialized treatment.

"As the world leading medtech company we are dependent on a close and efficient cooperation with scientists and doctors worldwide to develop the most innovative devices from which the patients can benefit. Exactly the strong competencies and the high quality in the clinical trials, tests and research in general in Denmark is the reason why Medtronic has established very strong relationships with the highly skilled Danish doctors and scientists,” says Mette-Marie Harild, Vice President of Nordic and Baltic countries and Poland.

Medtronic is also collaborating with the Cardiac Center at Copenhagen University Hospital, University of Copenhagen and Rehfeld IT-partner on a project to develop intelligent pacemakers that can interact with the patient and the doctor. The aim is to continuously monitor the patient and adapt treatment via the mobile phone. Denmark has a strong focus on developing new telehealth solutions and is a very good test market with a long tradition of public-private partnerships.
