Celltech Group plc has chosen Copenhagen as its base for expansion into the Nordic region, the company announces in a press release today. A key reason for choosing this area is the opportunity to create a network with other biotech companies around the Medicon Valley. Celltech chose the Medicon Valley and Copenhagen due to the large concentration of biotech companies in this area as well as Copenhagen’s central location in Europe with excellent flight connections and easy access to the airport. Also included in this decision was the advantage of a flexible labour market as well as the fact that Celltech management found Copenhagen to be a beautiful city.
“Transport-wise, Copenhagen offers superb connections to London, the Nordic countries, and the rest of Europe,” says Jørgen Damsbo Andersen, who has been investigating Celltech Nordic Regional Office possibilities since early 2002. He contacted Copenhagen Capacity and Invest in Denmark to assist with analysing location possibilities using their expertise when considering Copenhagen. Jørgen Damsbo Andersen has been appointed Managing Director of Celltech Nordic. He will be responsible for establishing Celltech’s Nordic operations, including recruitment of an experienced team of sales representatives and support staff.
