DMdata in Nordic IT merger

DMdata and Sweden's WM-data are combining their IT resources in the Nordic region

Jyllands-Posten reports that IT system operator DMdata and Swedish WM-data are combining their IT resources in the Nordic region and are establishing a jointly owned company in Sweden. The deal creates one of the Nordic region's largest supplier-independent players in the IT field, with the strength to compete with large US companies such as IBM, CSC and EDS for large outsourced IT operations in the growing Nordic market. The new company, which will be equally owned by WM-data and DMdata, will initially have annual sales of about SEK 400 million and comprise WM-data’s existing computer centres with about 200 employees in Sweden. Concurrently, WM-data is acquiring a 10% interest in DMdata. The joint operation will begin on 1 January 2003 subject to approval from the EU competition authorities.

DMdata is one of Denmark's largest operating companies in terms of capacity and range of IT operating services. The company has 650 employees and is equally owned by Danske Bank and Maersk Data AS.
