Danish airport tests new wireless security system

Billund airport in Jutland has tested a possible future wireless security system, reports the Danish business paper Erhvervsbladet. The system is based on a personal microchip tag which enables airport staff to identify you the moment you arrive at the airport. The tag carries the individual’s name, address, photograph, passport number, ticket number, mobile phone number and a fingerprint.

The tags have been developed by the Aalborg-based company Blue Tags A/S, and are based on Bluetooth wireless technology. Blue Tags collaborated on the test with US IT company Red-M, one of the pioneers in wireless network solutions. The test, which involved about 600 passengers, went without a hitch.
