2002.02.05

Finland’s largest venture company in pharma and biotech, BioFund Management Ltd, is ready to invest hundreds of millions of kroner in Medicon Valley’s growth companies, says daily financial newspaper Børsen. With an investment capital of 1.5 billion kroner, the Finnish fund has already invested in 3 Danish companies, Exiqon, Cureon and Egalet. BioFund is now establishing a subsidiary in Copenhagen to find more partners and discover more investment opportunities.

“Medicon Valley is the area in Scandinavia that has the biggest potential in the area that interests us. There is a both a major concentration of pure biotech companies and strongly established companies like Novo Nordisk, Lundbeck and Radiometer” says Seppo Mäkinen, one of the three founders of BioFund and leader of the Danish subsidiary.
