Flextronics and Kiss Technology produce world's first DivX compatible DVD player

A cooperation between north Jutland based Flextronics and Kiss Technology has led to the production of the world's first DVD player that can handle DivX format. DivX can compress a whole movie onto a single CD and is used to download films from the internet. In the first month since launch, Kiss Technology has received orders for 50,000 units which Flextronics will manufacture. The news is reported by Computerworld.


Flextronics now has a workforce of 1,700 with 700 new jobs being created in the last 6 months. The company's production of mobile phones has doubled since the beginning of this year, increasing turnover by 50% to more than DKK 5 billion (USD 685 million). Flextronics is a major sub-supplier to Siemens, which has been winning increasing market share in the mobile phone market.
