Govt. to use UMTS millions on research and IT

Following the auction by the Danish Government of 3G frequencies last year, provisional plans are being drawn up to use DKK 400 million each year for the next 4 years to boost IT and scientific research, writes Danish newspaper Ingenøren (The Engineer). Some of the areas reportedly earmarked for investment include nanotechnology, digital administration, the “Denmark portal” and IT initiatives in Jutland and Fyn. The Centre for IT Research is also named as a beneficiary of the planned investment.
