Internet micropayment system launched in Denmark

The micropayment system CoinClick has been launched by the Danish banks, TDC and PBS

It is widely reported today that the Danish banks, Denmark's biggest telecompany TDC and the bank payment transaction system PBS have joined forces to launch CoinClick, a new internet micropayment system. CoinClick functions as an electronic purse that can be filled to a maximum DKK 500 (USD 65) via a netbank, credit card or payment card. No commission is charged on the transfer, and security is ensured by the PBS coded transaction system.

CoinClick payments are already accepted by five internet shops in Denmark, and five more are expected to join them in the very near future. Typical micropayments where CoinClick is likely to prove popular include purchasing MP3 music, downloading company accounts, sports results, weather forecasts and dating agency services. CoinClick is also expected to open the way to the many new services that the forthcoming 3G mobile telephones are expected to provide.
