Neurobiology, immunology, bioinformatics, incubators, patents, ethics and management. These are just some of the subjects that over a thousand regional researchers and business professionals will present and discuss at the Medicon Valley BioConference 2002 in Malmø, Sweden, 8 – 10 October. The three-day conference, a key annual event in the Øresund region's scientific calendar, attracts all the active players in biomedical and biotechnological research and development in Medicon Valley.
For the sixth year in a row, Medicon Valley Academy (www.mva.org) is arranging the Medicon Valley BioConference. Participants include research scientists from hospitals, universities and the biotech industry as well as decision makers in biomedical R&D. The aim of the conference is twofold: Firstly to create an event where scientists primarily in Medicon Valley can present their research results and exchange knowledge to help ensure leading edge scientific competencies in Medicon Valley, and secondly to create a network across borders and across biotechnological and biomedical disciplines.
Running in parallel with the conference is BioTech Forum (www.biotechforum.org), a trade fair for companies, researchers and business executives involved in biotechnological development. In addition there is also a two-day biomedical partnership forum (www.iva.se/connect/partnershipforum), organised by CONNECT Nordica, where representatives from fledgling companies or innovative research projects within biomedicine have the opportunity to meet investors and industry contacts.
