Danske Bank, TDC Internet, Microsoft and others plan a new R&D facility in the Katrinebjerg IT cluster
Financial daily newspaper Børsen reports that a new centre for IT security is to be established in the IT cluster of Katrinebjerg in Århus, Jutland. The prime commercial movers behind the initiative are Danske Bank, TDC Internet, Microsoft and Cisco. The Alexandra Institute and Århus University are also part of the cooperation. The centre's R&D activities will cover a wide range of issues beyond viruses and hackers, such as telecommunication problems, backup systems, power fluctuations, e-mail and internet security issues, software errors and hardware failures. The centre is being established at a time when IT security is a particularly pressing issue. IDC forecasts that the market for security services up to 2006 will triple to USD 6 billion worldwide.
