Danish IT city to lead major IT project in the EU  

IT city Katrinebjerg wins competition against other European IT environments to lead prestigious project in pervasive computing

IT city Katrinebjerg in Århus (Jutland) has won a competition against other European IT environments to lead a major new EU sponsored IT project. The aim of the project, named PalCom, is to create a platform for communication between technologies such as mobile phones, televisions, cars and measuring devices - conceptually known as Pervasive Computing.


PalCom has a budget of DKK 90 million (USD 14.4 million) of which DKK 18 million (USD 2.9 million) will go directly to Århus where 10 new jobs will be created in the short term. In addition to IT city Katrinebjerg, 11 other players are included in the project of which 4 are from Århus: Aarhus University, the School of Architecture, the Alexandra Institute and OOVM. The news is reported by regional daily newspaper Jyllands-Posten.
