Danish IT companies Zellsoft and Realtime in merger

Software developer Zellsoft and wireless application infrastructure provider Realtime agree merger

Two Danish IT companies, the software developer Zellsoft and the wireless application infrastructure provider Realtime are merging, reports computerworld.dk. The new company will aim to become one of Europe’s leading suppliers of entertainment for the mobile internet. Both Zellsoft and Realtime develop mobile services, primarily entertainment, but have been focused on different niches. Realtime’s strength is in building mobile communities i.e. forums where users meet via mobile services, while Zellsoft has a strong position in multi media message service or MMS.

TDC Innovation is one of the owners of Zellsoft and following the merger it will own 35% of the new company, the remainder being divided between the founders of Zellsoft and Realtime, and the venture company Gemventures. The new company, which will take the Realtime name, is expecting to achieve a turnover of DKK 74 million (USD 10.6 million), as well as generating a surplus, by the end of 2003.

Zellsoft CEO Mads V. Jørgensen comments "The two companies will become a heavy player in the mobile entertainment area. We have the strength to compete on all continents, and together we will be providing more than 30 Mobile Operators globally with appealing mobile entertainment services."
