Excellent growth prospects for commercial hotspots  

New report predicts massive growth for public space wireless networks within the next 5 years

According to a recent report from ABI Research, the number of train stations, hotels, cafes, etc. with wireless Internet access will increase to more than 200,000 within five years. The report focuses on commercial wireless networks and does not include free wireless Internet access.

According to ABI Research, there is a total of 28,000 hotspots in the world today with a combined turnover of DKK 386,8 million. In 2007 this number will have increased to 160,000 hotspots – and a turnover of DKK 20,3 billion.

In Denmark, Copenhagen Airport was the first to offer wireless Internet access and recently Aarhus joined the WiFi “hot-spots”.
