Ferring Pharmaceuticals' profits soar following move to high rise HQ in Copenhagen

Ferring posts strong gains in turnover and profits from its administrative services tower block in Ørestad

The latest set of annual accounts from pharmaceutical company Ferring Pharmaceuticals shows that the move of its headquarters to Copenhagen in 2002 has resulted in a strong increase in turnover generated by this administrative centre. The headquarters supplies the entire Ferring group with administrative services; in 2002 its turnover amounted to DKK 610 million (USD 94 million), an increase of almost 60% on the 2001 figure.

Pre-tax profits rose from DKK 9 million (USD 1.4 million) in 2001 to DKK 18 million (USD 2.8 million) in 2002. The number of employees increased from 179 to 300 in the same period. Ferring Pharmaceuticals, founded in 1950 and owned by a Swiss holding company, has subsidiaries in more than 40 countries and employs about 2,200 people. Its main product areas are within urology, gynaecology, gastroenterology and endocrinology. The headquarters in Copenhagen lies in a brand new 20 storey building in Ørestad, a high tech urban development zone south of the city centre.
