Finnish software corporation sets up in Denmark

Firewall manufacturer Stonesoft Corporation establishes Copenhagen office to capitalise on important market

Helsinki based Stonesoft Corporation, which manufactures "firewalls", is setting up a Danish office in Lyngby north of Copenhagen. Stonesoft’s products have so far been sold through the distributor Scribona but according to Computerworld Online where the news is reported, Stonesoft is opening the office because they recognise the need to have a presence on a strategically important market.

Stonesoft Corporation was founded in 1990 and develops its own firewalls. The company's ambition is to gain 30% of the market for firewalls and transmission equipment for virtual private networks (VPN) in two years. The competitors on the market are primarily Check Point Software Technologies and Cisco. In 2002 Stonesoft Corporation had operating loss of DKK 187 million (USD 30 million) on a turnover of DKK 224 million (USD 36 million). Stonesoft is listed on the Helsinki Stock Exchange.
