IT sales via the internet are storming ahead in Denmark. According to the largest players on the domestic market, sales have passed the DKK 1 billion mark and are still growing strongly. Purchasers of IT products are typically advanced users who update their PCs with more RAM or screen cards says Gert Birnbacher, Chairman of the netshops' sector association FDIH. It is mainly young users and computer games which are the progress drivers.

The net shops comprise both larger and smaller players. SHG.dk is one of the largest, and in 2002 generated a turnover of DKK 155 million. This year turnover is expected to reach a figure of around DKK 210 million. According to Thomas Faldborg of SHG.dk, the company's market is growing by around 30% annually. SHG.dk sales include hardware, software and PC systems. The news is reported by Erhvervsbladet.
