Kiss Technology gets capital injection from US chip producer Sigma Designs

Sigma Designs has put DKK 6 million into the Copenhagen DVD player company, gaining a 6.7% ownership stake

Kiss Technology, headquartered north of Copenhagen, has received a capital injection of DKK 6 million (USD 942,000) from the US company Sigma Designs which supplies chips to Kiss Technology. With the new investment Sigma Designs gains 6.7% of the company ownership. Kiss Technology develops and distributes products such as DVD players which currently make up three quarters of its turnover.

Last year Kiss Technology's annual accounts recorded a loss of almost DKK 16 million (USD 2.5 million), but according to MD Peter Christensen the company accounts for the 2002/03 just completed but not yet published, will show a profit. Christensen says that last year's loss was due to substantial resources being used on changing from distributor status to developing its own DVD players. The news is reported by Computerworld online.
