NOVI and National Hospital commercialise GM enzyme project  

Science park NOVI and the National Hospital establish a company to commercialise a PhD project which shows promising results

The north Jutland science park NOVI and the National Hospital (Rigshospitalet) have established a new company to commercialise a patent from a PhD project which shows promising results. The National Hospital has taken over the project which has demonstrated that the production of enzymes can be increased by 50% via gene modification. This could be important to the production of different types of drugs as well as for the production of commercial enzymes.


Financial assistance has been ensured via LicFond, NOVI’s new venture capital company which has been established to support the continued development of commercially interesting research projects from the public sector. It is actually LicFond’s first project, and there are plans to start up a further four projects in collaboration with public research institutions during 2003. The news is reported by
