New IT Science Park to be built in Katrinebjerg, Aarhus  

Aarhus City and County Councils have signed a contract for the establishment of an IT Science Park

Aarhus City and County Councils in Jutland have signed a DKK 180 million (USD 28 million) contract with a private consortium for the establishment of an IT Science Park, which the consortium will run. According to the parties involved it will be Denmark’s first definitive IT Science Park, located in the so-called IT city of Katrinebjerg. The IT Science Park is expected to be completed by the start of 2006 and will have about 10,000 sq.m of space at its disposal.


Aarhus University will occupy 3,000 sq.m, where it will concentrate its courses in computer science, information science and media science. The IT Science Park is planned to be a development and growth environment for private sector companies, innovators and researchers, where new companies can be started up through collaboration between public sector research and private sector business. The news is reported by daily broadsheet Jyllands-Posten.
