Teliasonera eyes possible Debitel acquisition deal

Swedish-Finnish teleconcern Teliasonera expresses interest in acquiring the Danish part of mobile telephone company Debitel

Swedish-Finnish teleconcern Teliasonera has expressed interest in acquiring the Danish part of mobile telephone company Debitel, reports Computerworld online. Debitel does not have its own net but has many subscribers, while Teliasonera has its own net but lacks subscribers. According to teleanalysts Strand Consult, Debitel's main shareholder Swisscom has made it known that its Danish division is up for sale.

 

Swisscom is however in no great hurry, and the company is prepared to wait until the right offer comes along. Strand Consult estimates that a realistic price would be between DKK 500 and 800 million (USD 78 – 125 million). Currently Debitel and Telmore each have around a 7% share of the Danish mobile market. TDC has approx. 35%, Sonofon approx. 24%, Orange approx. 13% and Telia approx. 10%.
