Tellabs wins major order from Swedish teleoperator Tele2

Danish engineering company Tellabs has developed a solution enabling Tele2 to better exploit its internet traffic

Danish engineering company Tellabs, which makes equipment for optical communications, has won a multi-million order from Swedish teleoperator Tele2. Tellabs will deliver a technique which will enable Tele2 to better exploit its internet traffic. Tellabs has developed a solution which makes it possible to send data and voice traffic on the same network at a far higher density, thus allowing the telenet’s optical fibres to be exploited much more efficiently than they are today.

Tellabs was founded in 1981 and is based in Ballerup in the greater Copenhagen area. The company employs 370 people, most of whom are research engineers. Tellabs exports more than 90% of its production of equipment for optical transmission; besides Tele2 its customers include TeleDanmark, Telenor and Telia. The news is reported in daily newspaper Berlingske Tidende.
