The new IT in Practice survey shows that half of all Danish companies and over a third of public sector organisations use wireless networks

A newly published annual survey 'IT in Practice' by Rambøll Management and Dansk IT shows that half of all Danish companies and more than a third of public sector organisations use wireless networks. The widespread use of laptops with built-in wireless access has been a key factor in boosting the figures.

IP telephony, where the datanet is used for voice calls instead of the fixed net, is also becoming more widespread. Among private sector companies 21% use IP telephony, a figure that is expected to increase to 50% next year. In public sector organisations more than 33% use IP telephony, which can be used to make free internal phone calls between organisations located in separate parts of the country. The news is reported by national newspaper Berlingske Tidende online.
