CSC gains new major outsourcing contract with SAS

CSC has won an outsourcing contract with SAS enabling Norwegian subsidiary SAS Braathens to put its IT systems onto a shared platform with the parent company

Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) has won an outsourcing agreement with Scandinavian airline SAS which means that the Norwegian subsidiary SAS Braathens will get its IT systems and applications onto a shared technology platform with its parent company. The contract has a value to CSC of up to DKK 400 mn (USD 68 mn) if all options are exploited.

The new agreement follows the award of a DKK 9 bn (USD 1.5 bn) IT outsourcing agreement to CSC from SAS Group in December 2003. By outsourcing IT operations to CSC, SAS expected savings of at least DKK 250 mn (USD 42.5 mn), however recent accounts show that actual savings were DKK 80 mn (USD 13.6 mn) higher than forecast.

CSC is a leading global IT services company employing approximately 91,000 people. The corporate headquarters is in El Segundo, California. The Danish division of CSC was established in 1996. After the acquisitions of Mynd, e-Huset, Scandihealth and Scandinavian IT Group, the number of staff in CSC Denmark has increased to more than 2,600 people. The news is reported by ComputerWorld and on CSC's website.
