Copenhagen based Napatech has made the world's first 10 Gbit programmable Ethernet adapter, with Caltech among the first customers

Copenhagen based Napatech has gained a place in IT history by making the world's first programmable 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapter. Napatech says that NT10F Programmable Ethernet Adapter is the most powerful and advanced Network Interface Card available on the market today. The adapter supports custom solutions through Xilinx Virtex-II Pro FPGAs and onboard processors.

Although there are two other comparably fast network cards on the market, the Napatech adaptor is the only programmable card. Thomas Jørgensen, Napatech’s vice president of sales, says that California Institute of Technology (Caltech) has already become a customer. “With the NT10F our customers will be able to create custom packet and data processing solutions running at 10G speeds,” he comments. The news is reported by Computerworld.
