Aarhus based PC manufacturer Amitech prepares to launch Amitech HomeCenter, a storage unit for digital information in private homes

In two weeks the Danish PC manufacturer Amitech will launch its new product Amitech HomeCenter, a small storage unit for all digital information used at home such as documents, photos, film and music. The HomeCenter is a small box the size of an A4 ring binder which can be connected to a home network enabling everyone in the house to access the same information from individual PCs. The information can also be accessed remotely via the internet and is protected by firewalls and automatic antivirus updating.

Amitech's new product, which is the first of a series, is expected to generate 30-50% of the company's turnover in 3 to 5 years. Turnover in 2004 is forecast to reach DKK 250 million (USD 42.5 million), a growth of DKK 20 million (USD 3.4 million) compared to 2003. Amitech has recently employed more staff, taking the total workforce to 68 people. The Aarhus based company develops, assembles and sells its products from Aarhus while component production is handled in the Far East. The news is reported by national daily newspaper Jyllands-Posten.
