Denmark has a competitive edge in healthcare that could reap rich rewards, says Professor Stéphane Garelli who is in charge of preparing the World Competitive Yearbook (WCY). The country's research traditions, production and user-driven innovation makes it ideally positioned to exploit revolutionary progress in treatment methods, he says. This year, Denmark ranked 7th in the WCY out of 63 countries and regions.

Another important competitive advantage is the country's safety level. WCY's extensive data shows that safety is a new trend in international economies. Countries with a minimal risk of terror, infectious diseases and industrial espionage are understandably attractive to foreign investors.

"International investments will follow a pattern where safety will be given high priority. Denmark ranks highly in all relevant measurements and is one of the world's safest countries. That is an important competitive advantage", says Stéphane Garelli. The news is reported by the weekly newsletter Mandag Morgen.
