Canon has acquired the Danish software company Dataflight Europe for an undisclosed sum

Electronics and IT giant Canon has acquired the Danish software company Dataflight Europe for an undisclosed sum. Dataflight Europe makes battery driven cash terminals primarily used for sales of duty free products in aircraft. Customers include SAS and Singapore Airlines.

Hajime Tsuruoka, chief executive of Canon says Dataflight has a large potential for market growth and possesses an invaluable understanding of automated business processes which complements Canon's expertise in collection, control and distribution of information.

Canon plans to extend Dataflight Europe's group of customers to include the logistics industry and the healthcare sector. Dataflight Europe was established in 1986 and is based in Allerød north of Copenhagen. The company will continue as an independent enterprise after the acquisition. The news is reported by national newspaper Jyllands-Posten online.
