Fertin Pharma in Vejle, Jutland last week inaugurated the world's largest factory for the production of medical chewing gum. The new DKK 500 mn (USD 80 mn) factory has been approved by the Danish National Board of Health and the FDA. The US market constitutes 50% of the world market for medical chewing gum.


Fertin Pharma, which employs 200 people, is a world leader in the development and manufacture of medical chewing gum. The company’s core competence is the controlled release of active substances from gum-based products. Fertin Pharma operates purely as a business-to-business drug delivery company and its partners hold all marketing rights; current partner companies include GlaxoSmithKline and Novartis.
