Digital signature number 100,000 is expected to be issued today, bringing the Ministry of Science Technology and Innovation closer to its objective

Digital signature number 100,000 is expected to be issued in Denmark today, bringing the Ministry of Science Technology and Innovation closer to its objective of 350,000 Danes having a digital signature before 18 June this year. Currently 1,000 Danes request a digital signature every day and the number is increasing. The Ministry is set to launch a marketing campaign to encourage even more Danes to get a digital signature.

Denmark's largest telecompany TDC operates the digital signature for the Ministry. TDC marketing director Morten Brøgger says the public services accessible on the internet using the signature make it easier to be a citizen and enable companies to rationalise. The digital signature is a unique electronic key coded into the user's PC and is a free service. The news is reported by national newspaper Jyllands-Posten online.
