A new analysis shows that Medicon Valley attracted most investment projects in biotechnology and the pharmaceutical industry in Europe in 2003

A new analysis by accounting and consultancy company Ernst & Young together with marketing organisation Copenhagen Capacity, shows that Medicon Valley (greater Copenhagen and the south of Sweden) attracted most investment projects in biotechnology and the pharmaceutical industry in Europe in 2003. Claus Frelle-Petersen, head of development at Copenhagen Capacity says that Medicon Valley did better than well-known biotech clusters around London and Paris measured on numbers of investment projects.

 

In 2003, Medicon Valley attracted six investment projects in biotechnology and the pharmaceutical industry followed by Barcelona/Cataluna with five and Stockholm with five; London attracted three in comparison. Foreign investments in 2003 include Acadia Pharmaceuticals and Garrotech Pharma AdvanDx. The news is reported by financial newspaper Børsen online.
