Mobintech receives EU grant for development of laptop IT devices

The Danish mobile internet company has received DKK 3.2 million to continue its development of a new type of display glasses and a belt computer

The Danish mobile internet technology company Mobintech has received DKK 3.2 million (USD 0.5 million) from the EU to continue its development of a new type of display glasses and a belt computer. The glasses comprises a 1/2 inch display and a camera; together with a small laptop it can be used for example by mechanics to view a manual in their line of sight while working on an aircraft or car engine.

Christian Zilstorff, managing director of Mobintech, says that the company develops both hardware and software and integrates it into the laptop. The aim is to reduce the consumption of power and the size of the belt computer. Together with a number of European companies, Mobintech is part of a consortium which is expecting to get a DKK 120 million (USD 20.4 million) EU grant in the near future for a development project called WearIT@work. Other companies participating include Siemens, Philips, Skoda and Airbus. The news is reported by professional journal Ingeniøren (the Engineer) online.
