Aalborg based Neurodan has received DKK 35 mn in investment from existing investors to launch its new product ActiGait

Aalborg based Neurodan has received DKK 35 mn in investment from existing investors Novi, Novo, Dansk Innovationsinvestering and Danfoss to launch its new product ActiGait. Negotiations are currently taking place with external investors regarding a similar sum of money. Neurodan develops novel implantable devices which restore functionality to patients with CNS damage through the application of functional electrical stimulation and neuro-muscular electrical stimulation. These technologies replace central nerve signalling.

Neurodan plans to launch ActiGait, an implanted foot drop correction system, in 2005. The potential for the almost uncultivated market for foot drop stimulation equipment is estimated at about DKK 3 bn (USD 510 mn) in Europe annually. ActiGait will be marketed initially in Sweden and Germany, with the rest of Europe following in the next couple of years. The news is reported by financial newspaper Børsen.
