Danish wireless technology developer RTX Telecom has launched a new wireless telephone which can be used for internet telephony as well as telephone calls via the ordinary telephone net. RTX Telecom is collaborating with the internet telephony service Skype whose free IP telephony software has been downloaded over 9 million times. RTX Telecom's new phone can be used for free IP telephony via Skype.

The wireless telephone connects to the internet via wireless technology that uses the PC's USB port. Jørgen Elbæk, managing director of RTX Telecom says the new telephone is very straightforward to use so that people can phone via the internet just as easily as from an ordinary wireless telephone.

RTX Telecom is headquartered in Nørresundby, north Jutland. It has recently established a US subsidiary in San José, California under the name RTX America, Inc., as a part of the company's strategy to expand its sales and marketing activities. Customers include Siemens, Ericsson, Panasonic, National Semiconductor, Nortel Networks and Bang & Olufsen. The news is reported by Computerworld online.
