The Danish-developed internet marketplace Scanmarket is surging ahead and forecast revenues of up to DKK 7 billion (USD 1.1 billion) in 2004. Since it started in 2001, Scanmarket has seen explosive growth with 2002 annual revenues reaching DKK 500 million (USD 80 million), and the 2003 figure rocketing to almost DKK 3 billion (USD 480 million).

While Scanmarket's initial customers were primarily Danish companies, the largest growth now happens abroad. Scanmarket has opened offices in Germany, UK and the US. Among recent US customers are the vacuum cleaner giant Oreck and Johnson Industries, a large supplier for the motor industry. Scanmarket has also entered a cooperation with the VW concern to develop a e-purchasing model for the entire concern. The news is reported by national newspaper Jyllands-Posten.

Scanmarket is a B2B internet auction solution where companies can buy a wide range of products from machinery and raw materials to trucks and food. It is headquartered in Solbjerg close to Aarhus, Jutland.
