Swiss software company Esmertec acquires Aarhus based OOVM

Zurich based Esmertec has acquired the Danish software developer OOVM, for an undisclosed sum

The Swiss software company Esmertec has acquired the Danish software developer OOVM (Object-Oriented Virtual Machines) based in Aarhus Jutland, for an undisclosed sum. The core product of OOVM is an object-oriented platform with an operating system or virtual machine that can reduce software development, integration and maintenance cost for device and chipset manufacturers.

OOVM was founded in 2002 by four computer scientists from the University of Aarhus. After the sale the founders will continue working in Aarhus and director Lars Bak says he is pleased that OOVM's virtual machine and software platform will now have a chance to be launched on the world market.

Anne-Marie Larkin, technical manager of Esmertec says that Lars Bak and his team are among the leading experts in Java virtual machines and embedded software development. Esmertec is headquartered in Zurich with operations in Switzerland, France, UK, USA, Singapore, China, South Korea, Taiwan and Japan. The news is reported by Computerworld online and on Esmertec's website.
