TDC to open 400 new hotspots in Denmark

Denmark's largest telecompany will launch 400 new hotspots at Statoil petrol stations, McDonald's restaurants and Baresso coffee bars in late March

Denmark's largest telecompany TDC will launch 400 new hotspots in Denmark on 30 March in collaboration with Statoil petrol stations, McDonald restaurants and Baresso coffee bars. Hotspots enable people on the move to use the fastest ADSL speeds for wireless internet access. TDC Mobile already has 50 hotspots established in airports and other junctions.

Initially the new hotspots are mainly aimed at sales representatives, consultants and others who are on the move as part of their jobs. Lars Torpe Christoffersen, MD of TDC Total Solutions, says however that he thinks private internet users will also make use of the hotspots. Prices for unlimited access to the wireless broadband net are expected to be around DKK 200 (USD 34) per month. Access to the net can also be paid on an hourly basis. The news is reported by the Engineer online.
