Germany's SAP, the world's largest inter-enterprise software company, is holding its European user conference SAPPHIRE in the Bella Center in Copenhagen, April 26-28. Around 7,000 people are expected to attend. It is the first time SAP is holding its annual European user conference in Northern Europe. Normally it has been held in Portugal.
SAP has seen a 17% increase in licence income to DKK 3.2 bn (USD 544 mn) in Q1, and now has a global market share of 58%. Henning Kagermann, chief executive of SAP says: "We have also been doing well in the Nordic region, but the reason for placing our SAPPHIRE conference in Copenhagen is just as much because it is a beautiful city", he adds. Henrik Rasmussen, head of SAP in the Nordic region says that SAPPHIRE is a good opportunity to show Denmark's qualities to business people from the whole world. The news is reported by financial daily newspaper Børsen.
The Bella Center in Copenhagen has gained success as a host of major IT conferences for companies including Microsoft, HP, SAP, Oracle, SAS Institute and Cisco. In November 2004, Microsoft held its IT Forum, the company's premier European conference for IT managers, systems and applications architects, specialists and administrators, for the third time in the Bella Center.
