Danish biotech company Exiqon has won the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Award in the biotech category

Danish biotech company Exiqon has won the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Award in the biotech category. The prestigious award has been created to identify and acknowledge the most successful and entrepreneurial Danish companies. A minimum growth of 15% in sales and a growing number of staff are among the key criteria for nomination.

Some of the points emphasised by the judges were Exiqon's ability to turn the company around in just two years and its breakthrough research results. Lars Kongsbak, president and CEO was proud of the award and said: "What we are seeing are the first results of Exiqon's strategy to develop and market competitive products based on our LNA technology". The news was reported by BiotechDenmark.

Exiqon was founded in 1996 and is based in Vedbæk north of Copenhagen. The company provides solutions for life scientists worldwide through the application of two core technologies Locked Nucleic Acid (LNA) and Anthraquinone Photochemistry. Exiqon's fundamental business strategy is to allow third parties access to exploit its innovative R&D projects and proprietary technologies through licensing, partnering, and OEM agreements.
