Analysis company IDC Nordic has published new figures which show that sales of PCs in Denmark have set a new record in the last six months. In total 475,000 PCs were sold [equates to a new PC for 1 in 10 of the Danish population – Ed], the largest number seen over six months, and a 30% increase on the same period last year. IDC says that there has been a particularly strong growth in laptop PC sales which is now almost on line with sales of desktop PCs.

The corporate sector purchases almost two thirds of all computers. Large orders from companies such as Danske Bank and Nykredit have helped the figures upwards. Anders Elbak, senior analyst at IDC Nordic, says that the growth in sales of computers for private households is expected to continue for the rest of year. The number of PCs per Danish household is between 1.5 and 2, and the figure is growing. The news is reported by national daily newspaper Jyllands-Posten.
