Nokia, Siemens, Motorola and Denmark's Nettest have entered a framework agreement with the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) for a new ICT research center at DTU

Nokia, Siemens, Motorola and Denmark's Nettest have entered a framework agreement with the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) for a new ICT research center at DTU. The agreement gives DTU the rights to ICT applications invented at the centre, while the companies involved have the right of use.

The Center for Information and Communication Technologies (CICT) will be the first place in Europe to conduct a full teaching programme based on 'Career Space', the European telecom industry project regarding its competence needs. CICT will also conduct multi-disciplinary ICT research. The basic idea of the centre is to provide ICT expertise and competencies to private and public sector companies.

At the inauguration of the centre last week, the Danish Minister for Education, Bertel Haarder said: "By setting up the CICT, you have created a powerhouse for education and technological development. I hope that this good example will lead to similar projects in the future". The news is reported by professional journal Ingeniøren (the Engineer).
