MT Højgaard wins major order for offshore wind turbine foundations

MT Højgaard, a leading Danish contractor has won a DKK 275 m order to supply the foundations for a new offshore wind turbine park on the west coast of Britain

MT Højgaard, a leading Danish contractor has won a DKK 275 m (USD 44 m) order to supply the foundations for a new offshore wind turbine park on the west coast of Britain. The order for Burbo Offshore Wind Farm was placed by SeaScape Energy Ltd. MT Højgaard plans to install the foundations in May 2006.

Ole Steen Christensen, division director of MT Højgaard Udland, says that MT Højgaard has been actively involved in the development of the world leading Danish wind turbine industry from the start.

"We have acquired expertise in this market. We have for example made the foundations for the wind turbine park on Middelgrunden, the park on Horns Reef off the west coast of Jutland, and most recently one of the UK's first large offshore wind turbine projects on the Kentish Flats in the Thames estuary", Ole Steen Christensen comments. The news was reported by Industriens Dagblad and on MT Højgaard's website.

MT Højgaard is headquartered in Copenhagen and employs more than 5,000 people. The Danish contractor generates annual sales of approx. DKK 7.4 bn (USD 1.2 bn).
