New statistics from the National IT and Telecom Agency show that the number of mobile phone subscribers in Denmark increased by 300,000 to almost 5.2 million in H2 2004

New statistics from the National IT and Telecom Agency show that the number of mobile phone subscribers in Denmark increased by 300,000 to almost 5.2 million in H2 2004. This figure corresponds to 95% of the Danish population.

 

Out of the 300,000 new subscribers, 25% chose 3G mobile phones. In total there were 125,000 3G mobile phones subscribers by the end of 2004. The only telecompany in Denmark to offer 3G so far is "3". The statistics also show that the 2G net was used increasingly for data transfer. In 2004 there was a 128% increase from H1 to H2 in the amount of data transferred.

 

Regarding broadband internet connections, there were almost 100,000 new subscribers in 2004 compared to the year before, of whom 71,000 chose DSL connections and 28,000 cable modems. Most new DSL connections have speed exceeding 1 Mb/s. The news is reported by IT online news Comon.
