Danish enzyme manufacturer Novozymes has been ranked No. 1 for the fifth year in succession in the Dow Jones Sustainability Group Index (DJSI) in the biotech category on both the European and the global list. 24 biotech companies were assessed, but only two were included on the index, Novozymes and the US company Genzyme.

Novozymes gained high rankings overall, but did particularly well in investor relations, R&D, environmental policy and management, environmental and social reporting, animal testing and bioethics.

The DJSI Indexes are used by asset managers in 14 countries as reliable and objective benchmarks to manage sustainability portfolios. The news was reported by professional journal Ingeniøren (The Engineer) and on the Novozymes website.

Novozymes is the biotech-based world leader in enzymes and microorganisms. Headquartered in Bagsværd on the outskirts of Copenhagen, the company employs 4,000 people, half of whom are stationed in Denmark. Novozymes' 700 products are a key factor in the production of thousands of products used in everyday life. The company's B shares are listed on Copenhagen Stock Exchange.
