New H1 2005 figures from Payment Business Services (PBS) show that the number of internet payments with the Danish Payment Card, Dankort, increased by 38% to 8,734,994 payments compared to the same period last year. Since 2002, the number of Dankort payments in Danish internet shops has risen by more than 400%, and the value of each payment is increasing.

Morten Kamper, director of the Association of Danish Internet Trade (FIDH), says that more types of goods are being sold via the internet, and that consumers as well as retailers are showing increasing interest in e-trading. Private consumers are also increasingly using the net for buying and selling private goods for example via internet auctions. In 2004 alone, FIDH estimates that this area generated a total turnover of DKK 1 bn (USD 170 mn). The news is reported by Industriens Dagblad.
