Pharma Nord, a Danish pharmaceutical company specialising in preventive medicine and nutrition is investing DKK 150 mn in a new factory in Jutland

Pharma Nord, a Danish pharmaceutical company specialising in preventive medicine and nutrition is expanding its production facilities in Vojens, Jutland. Friday this week, the first turf for a DKK 150 mn (USD 27 mn) factory will be cut by the Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries Hans Christian Schmidt, Mayor of Vojens Nik Mikkelsen and Pharma Nord managing director Eli Wallin. The factory is expected to be completed in a year.

Eli Wallin says that in the last five years the company has seen a strong increase in exports to markets in Asia and North America where Danish production quality in food and medicine has great importance: "That is why the expansion of production capacity will take place here in Denmark and not in countries where production could be carried out a lot cheaper," he says.

Pharma Nord is headquartered in Vejle, Jutland and employs about 300 people. In addition to its Danish activities, Pharma Nord has a number of subsidiaries abroad in countries such as Norway, Sweden, Finland, UK, France, Spain and the Baltic States. The company generates revenues of DKK 750 mn (USD 135 mn) annually. The news is reported by daily financial newspaper Børsen.
