Swedish telecom operator Tele2 has acquired Tiscali Denmark, a subsidiary of Italy's Tiscali, for DKK 154 mn (USD 27.7 mn). Lars-Johan Jarnheimer, CEO of Tele2 says the company is very pleased to have concluded the deal since it significantly strengthens Tele2's position in the Danish broadband market.

 

Niclas Palmstierna, director of Tele2 Denmark says the acquisition will give more direct access to the Danish net, and ensures that Tele2 can offer very cheap prices to its customers.

 

Tiscali Denmark has some 26,000 ADSL customers and more than 50,000 dial-up Internet customers. In 2004, it generated revenues of DKK 156 mn (USD 28 mn). Tele2 was founded in 1993 and is headquartered in Stockholm. It has 26 million customers in 24 countries, and in 2003 reported a profit of DKK 4.7 bn (USD 0.8 bn).
