TCM Denmark has gained its first contract with the Chinese authorities to test a naturally derived drug which might have a cancer-inhibiting effect

TCM Denmark has gained its first contract with the Chinese authorities to test a naturally derived drug which might have a cancer-inhibiting effect. TCM Denmark is a Funen based consortium comprising a number of partners including the Danish Institute of Agricultural Sciences, the University of Southern Denmark, International Science Parks of Southern Denmark and Funen County Council.

The County Mayor of Funen, Jan Boye, recently visited China to sign a collaboration agreement between TCM Denmark and the State Administration for Traditional Chinese Medicine regarding research and development of Chinese traditional medicine.

The University of Southern Denmark in Odense, Funen, will carry out the tests. Bjørn Petersen, director of the TCM secretariat, says the Chinese authorities are interested in analysing the active substances, and to have their effect tested: "We think that agreements of this kind could lead to medicinal plants being grown in Funen, or to distribution and production tasks in the future", he says. The news is reported by regional newspaper Fyens Stiftstidende.
