Texas Instruments development division in Aalborg receives Amcham Denmark Business Award 2005

Texas Instruments development division in Aalborg, northern Jutland, has received the Amcham Denmark Business Award 2005 on account of the unit's strong growth in both revenues and workforce. The US Ambassador to Denmark, Jim Cain, presented the award to the firm on Tuesday. The Amcham Denmark Business Award is based on entrepreneurship, innovation and globalisation.

In two years, the Aalborg division of Texas Instruments has increased its workforce from 90 to 200, and has seen revenues rise by 50% to DKK 315 mn (USD 50.4 mn) in the last year. Kim Breum-Christensen, director of the Aalborg division comments on the acknowledgement: "It helps to create pride in the company, and can also help attract capable people in the future".

Texas Instruments in Aalborg covers two areas: reference design for mobile phones, and GSM/UMTS protocol stack development. The division is part of the Wireless Terminal Business Unit/WTBU. The next major task for the Aalborg unit will be to further develop Texas Instruments' new single chip solution which enables production of low-cost mobile phones used solely for voice calls. The news was reported by financial daily newspaper Børsen.
