Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has gained an order for 18 V90-3.0 MW wind turbines for the Alvedos Pinhal Wind Farm in Portugal. The order has been awarded by Generventos do Pinhal Interior, Energias Renováveis, owned by Generg, S.G.P.S., one of Portugal's largest suppliers of renewable energy. The 54 MW wind park is scheduled for installation and commissioning during 2006.
Ebbe Funk, president of Vestas Mediterranean West says: "The order confirms our expectations of the Portuguese market and also strengthens our position on the market". In spring 2005, the Portuguese authorities increased the total target for the country's wind power from 3,750 MW to 4,400 MW by 2010. The news was reported by financial daily newspaper Børsen.
