In September Aalborg University will introduce a new international masters course in wind energy for engineers

Aalborg University based in northern Jutland, is starting a new international masters course in wind energy for engineers this September. The two-year part time course is offered to engineers working in the wind turbine industry, who can either take specific modules or the full course. The announcement of the new masters course was received with enthusiasm by Bjarne Lundager Jensen, director of the Danish Wind Industry Association:

"We are facing annual growth rates of 20% in the wind turbine industry, and at the same time wind turbines are becoming increasingly high tech. We have an enormous need for more engineers to specialise in this area, so the initiative in Aalborg is very encouraging. It is very much the answer to our education policy request."

The masters course in wind energy builds on Aalborg University research projects in electrical power, structure dynamics and design of wind turbine blades. Professor John Dalsgaard Sørensen of Aalborg University comments: "The aim of our initiative is that engineers can be updated with the latest knowledge, and the experience we have gained from a large number of research projects in wind energy." The news was reported by ErhvervsBladet.
